Week 2 vs. Eastern Washington Depth Chart:

Key Thoughts:

  • Obviously the big news here is the announcement that Cyler Miles will start this week against Eastern Washington. Jeff Lindquist started last week against Hawaii as Miles served his one game suspension. It has been the popular opinion throughout the media that Miles is the quarterback of the future; however, he has been rather unimpressive throughout fall camp. Coach Pete and Husky Nation are hopeful that Miles’ football instincts and raw ability can boost a lack luster offense in week one.
  • It appears as if Dwayne Washington will once again get the first carries in week two. With that being said, Lavon Coleman will certainly get his touches as he lead the critical final drive in week one.
  • Ben Riva has been hampered by a knee injury and will be replaced this week by Coleman Shelton. Shelton played the majority of game against Hawaii and performed admirably. Husky fans should rest assured that Riva’s injury is not serious, and he would be able to play this week if deemed necessary.
  • Redshirt Freshman Nose Tackle, Elijah Qualls, has moved up a spot and is listed with the second string. Qualls showed nicely last week in Hawaii with a couple of big tackles. It will be important that he continues to progress as Danny Shelton’s backup.
  • Travis Feeney is listed as the starting outside linebacker this week and appears to be fully recovered from his nagging injuries. Feeney looked like his usual self last week swarming to the ball and making big a couple of big hits.
  • Corey Littleton is back on the depth chart this week as Shaq Thompson’s backup at weak-side linebacker. Littleton is a versatile player who can drop into coverage or rush the passer.
  • Cornerback Travell Dixon is listed ahead of freshman corner Sidney Jones this week.
  • Kevin King and Budda Baker are listed as the two starting safeties going into this week’s game against the Eagles. King and Budda both had their ups and downs week one against Hawaii; Husky Nation will hope for a quick bounce back performance against the pass happy offense of Eastern Washington.
